Panther Men Finish Third, Women Fourth at NCAA Regionals

The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the NCAA Regional races hosted by Southern Maine at the Gorham Country Club. The 15th-ranked men finished third among 55 teams competing with 124 points, while the eighth-ranked women were fourth among 56 squads with 113. Both teams must wait to see if they will receive a bid to the NCAA Championship meet next Saturday in Elsah, Illinois at the Principia North Farm Course.

The men's team was paced by Ascencion Aispuro and Matt D'Aquila, who both concluded their respective races in the top 15 among 370 competitors. Aispuro led the group with a fourth-place finish of 25:32.9, while D'Aquila covered the 8K course with a time of 25:50.9, good for 15th place. Harrison Knowlton was the next runner to cross the finish line in 25th (26:01.9), while Theo Henderson stopped the clock in 31st (26:10.3). Henry Fleming rounded out the scorers for the men in 49th (26:22.2).

Abigail Nadler continued her solid season for the Panther women, placing fifth overall for the third-straight year with a time of 20:49.4. Finishing in 20th place out of 393 competitors was Katherine MacCary, who covered the 6K course in 21:46.4. Meg Wilson was next for the Panthers in 26th place (22:10.4), followed by Read Allen who was right behind in 30th place (22:11.9). Completing the team's scorers was Rory Kelly, who turned in a 36th-place finish with a mark of 22:17.3.
