The Middlebury women's soccer team extended its winning streak to six-straight games, as the Panthers collected a 3-0 road victory Wednesday night at Castleton (6-7-1). Middlebury (9-2-1) returns to NESCAC play Saturday, hosting Trinity at 11:00 a.m.

The game was scoreless through the opening half of play, but the visitors dictated play. Middlebury held a 9-1 edge in shots through the first 45 minutes, with Sabrina Glaser being very active on the offensive end of the field. The midfielder took five shots with three of them being on the net. Her best chance came from the top of the penalty area midway through the period, firing a shot that Spartan keeper Rachel Shambo smothered.

In the second stanza, the Panthers broke through for the game's initial goal. Glaser carried the ball deep into the Castleton penalty area, touching a pass to Amanda Dafonte, who buried the shot from six yards out. The goal was her second of the season and came 10:22 into the half.

Middlebury doubled the lead with 12:50 remaining in the game on a set piece taken by Eliza Robinson. Robinson lofted a free kick from 40 yards out into the penalty area that Shambo punched away, but Virginia Charman one-touched the rebound into the Spartan net for her second tally of the fall.

Leah Salzman capped the scoring for the Panthers with 10 seconds left in the game, tucking in a short shot on an assist from Emma Shumway.

In goal, Eva Shaw played the opening half, while Ursula Alwang logged the final 45 minutes to earn the win. Neither keeper needed to make a save as the Panthers held an 18-2 advantage in shots. Shambo made seven saves for the Spartans.
