The 15th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team earned two home matches to start the second semester. The Panthers opened action on Saturday with an 8-1 victory over Bowdoin, and followed that with a 6-3 triumph over 17th-ranked Bates. The Panthers (2-2) return to the court on Sunday when they host Colby at 11:00 a.m.

In the win over Bowdoin, all eight points for the Panthers came via three-game victories. Wins were posted by Nick Bermingham at #9 (11-0, 11-0, 11-0), Andrew Cadienhead at #3 (11-6, 11-5, 11-4), Ben Krant in the sixth spot (11-5, 11-2, 11-6) and Jacob Ellen at #2 (11-0, 12-10, 11-6).

Team points five through eight were tallied by William Kurth in the eighth slot (11-0, 11-1, 11-3), Jack Kagan at #5 (11-7, 11-9, 11-7), Robert Rohrbach at #7 (11-5, 12-10, 11-6) and Wyatt French at the top of the ladder (11-1, 11-5, 11-7). Bowdoin's point came in the last match to finish, a five-game victory by Ben Bristol in the fourth spot.

Against Bates, Krant got the Panthers on the scoreboard with a three-game win at #6 (11-6, 11-7, 12-10), while Cadienhead doubled the Middlebury advantage with a four-game triumph in the third slot (13-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-6). Bates cut the lead in half with a four-game victory by Carlos Ames at the bottom of the ladder, but Ellen at #2 (11-1, 11-8, 11-4) and Kurth in the eighth slot (16-14, 11-9, 11-8) pushed the Panther lead out to three at 4-1.

The Bobcats slice their deficit to one (4-3) via a five-game win from Spencer Burt at #5 and a three-game triumph by Ahmed Hatata in the top spot. Rohrbach tallied the clinching fifth team point for the hosts with a five-game win at #7 (11-8, 11-9, 8-11, 10-12, 11-6), before William Cembalest defeated his opponent in three games (11-6, 11-6, 16-14) for the final 6-3 score.
