The 16th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team concluded its home portion of the schedule on Friday evening with a narrow 5-4 setback to #19 Williams. The Panthers (7-4) return to the court on Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. contest at #8 St. Lawrence.
The Ephs (7-7) jumped out to a 2-1 lead with wins at #9 and #6. Picking up the victory for the Panthers during that stretch was William Cembalest at #3 in five games (11-7, 11-8, 3-11, 4-11, 11-8).
The Panthers grabbed the lead at 3-2 Nick Bermingham edged his opponent in four games at #8 (11-6, 11-9, 4-11, 11-7), while William Kurth was also victorious in four games at the #7 spot (11-0, 4-11, 11-6, 11-9) for the Panthers.
Williams tied the match at 3-3 with a victory at #5, but Middlebury's Andrew Cadienhead cruised in three games at the second slot (11-4, 11-5, 11-8) for a 4-3 Panther lead.
The Ephs came from behind via four-game wins at #1 and #4 for the 5-4 triumph.
