Middlebury tallied the match's only goal with less than 10 minutes remaining for a 1-0 NESCAC road victory Sunday over Hamilton. The win puts the Panthers at 5-2 and 2-2 in league play, while the Continentals dip to 2-4-1 and 1-4-0 in the NESCAC. Middlebury is home Wednesday, hosting Keene State at 4:00 p.m.

The Panthers nearly scored in the seventh minute of the match when Emma Shumway had chance from right in front of the Hamilton net, but fired the shot high.

Hamilton countered with an opportunity of its own in late in the opening frame when Katie Kreider sent a shot across the goal mouth that went past Middlebury goalkeeper Kate Reinmuth, but the Panther defense cleared the ball out of harm's way keeping the match scoreless.

In the second half, Reinmuth came up with her biggest save in the 67th minute when Hamilton's Maddie Dale sent a long high shot from 25 yards out toward the near corner. Reinmuth jumped and knocked the ball down, before pouncing on the loose ball when she landed to keep it from rolling over the goal line.

The Panthers scored the match's only goal with 9:49 left in regulation on a corner kick. Adrianna Gildner directed the kick to the near post where it was headed to the ground. After a scramble in front of the net, Katherine Hobbs wound up with possession at the far post and scored her fourth goal of the season.

Reinmuth finished with a pair of saves for her first shutout of the season, while Emily Dumont (three saves) and Rachel Cooley (two saves) each played a half for Hamilton. The Panthers held a 14-3 advantage in shots and took six of the match's eight corner kicks.
