Women's Soccer Suffers Overtime Loss at Conn. College

Box Score

The Middlebury women's soccer team suffered a 3-2 double overtime loss on the road Saturday afternoon at Connecticut College (2-0, 1-0). The Panthers (1-1, 0-1) held a 17-7 advantage in shots for the match, but could not pick up the win in their first NESCAC game of the season. Middlebury returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Plattsburgh State.

Alex Barber gave Middlebury a 1-0 lead 38:17 into the game with her first career goal. The Camels tied the game on an "own goal" just over two minutes later.

Locked in a 1-1 tie at the half, the Camels took their first lead when Livi Block won a ball ahead to Alex Baltazar who chipped the ball into the net for the Camels in a one-on-one situation with the Middlebury goalkeeper.

With 5:37 to go, the Panthers answered when Adrianna Gildner rifled home a shot from 30 yards out to even the match at 2-2.

After a scoreless first overtime, Alexa Tribelli buried a 35-yard blast in the 102nd minute to lift the Camels to the victory on Freeman Field at Tempel Green. Connecticut College goalkeeper Sarah Williams finished with six saves in the victory, while Kate Reinmuth made one save in goal.
