Box Score The Middlebury men's soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 1-0 road win at Connecticut College (1-1, 0-1) in the first NESCAC match of the season for both squads. The Panthers are idle for a week before hosting Amherst next Saturday.
Daniel O'Grady scored in the 32nd minute for the match's lone goal. Breaking down the left side, he drew Camel goalkeeper Mark Cameron off his line before sliding a shot into the back of the net.
The Camels nearly tied the game with 8:40 to go when Pat Devlin made a terrific effort to convert with a bicycle kick from the six-yard line, but Panther keeper Greg Sydor made the save to preserve the lead. Ben Manoogian nearly knotted the game in the 68th minute, but Sydor once again came up big on an attempt from point-blank range.
