The 14th-ranked Panther men's squash team split a pair of matches during the NESCAC Tournament on Saturday hosted by Trinity. After receiving a bye through the first round, second-seeded Middlebury recorded an 8-1 win in the quarterfinals over #7 seed Bowdoin before falling to third-seeded and 17th-ranked Bates in the semifinals, 6-3. The Panthers (11-4) return to play on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. in the third-place match against #4 seed, 18th-ranked Williams.
In the win over Bowdoin, five of Middlebury's eight victories came in three games. Wins were posted by Andrew Jung at #1, Wyatt French in the #3 slot, Henry Pearson at #6, Ben Krant in the seventh spot and Robert Rohrbach at the bottom of the lineup at #9. The Panthers other wins came from Andrew Cadienhead and Harrison Croll at #4 and #5, as both players lost the first game but rebounded and took the next three. William Kurth won in four games in the eighth spot.
Against Bates, French tallied his second three-game win of the day in the third spot, while Rohrbach also recorded his second straight-game victory of the day in the #9 match. Kurth garnered the other team point for the Panthers, earning a four-game triumph at #8.
