The 15th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team fell to #10 Cornell by a 9-0 score on Friday morning in the Hoehn Cup quarterfinal round at the CSA National Team Championship. The event is being hosted by Yale at the Brady Squash Center. The Panthers return to action Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. in a consolation semifinal match against #14 Navy. Middlebury squared off with the Midshipmen on January 29, earning a thrilling 5-4 victory at the Yale Round Robin.
The Big Red picked up three-game victories in six of the nine matches. Middlebury's Harrison Croll fell to Cornell's Jordan Brail in four games at #4 (5-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-8). Henry Pearson battled back from a 2-1 deficit against Cornell's Andrew Muran to win the fourth game before losing at #5 in five games (14-16, 11-8, 6-11, 12-10, 11-9).
At the #7 spot, Middlebury's William Kurth and the Big Red's Graham Dietz split the first two games before Dietz posted 11-8 and 11-2 victories for the win (11-5,5-11,11-8,11-2).
