Men's Squash Concludes Opening Weekend With Loss to Navy

The 15th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team concluded its opening home weekend, falling to 14th-ranked Navy by a 7-2 score on Saturday. The Panthers (0-2) have more than a month off from competition before returning to the court Saturday, January 7 in a pair of home contests with Bowdoin and Bates starting at 10:00 a.m.

Middlebury took the early lead with a three-game victory at #6 from Ben Krant over Jamie Kjorlien (12-10, 12-10, 11-8). The Midshipmen (13-1) responded with a pair of wins at #3 and #9 before Jack Kagan tied the match for the hosts with a four-game triumph in the fifth spot over Navy's Will Walker by scores of 9-11, 11-6, 11-3 and 11-4.

The visitors clinched the team victory with five-straight triumphs at #2, #8, #7, #4 and #1, respectively. Middlebury's William Cembalest battled Navy's Owen Davis for five games in the fourth slot before Davis earned the hard-fought win (13-15, 11-7, 9-11, 11-2, 11-5).
