Cross Country Teams Both Finish Fourth at NCAA Regionals

The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the NCAA Regional race hosted by Westfield State University at Stanley Park. The women finished fourth among 59 teams competing, while the men were also fourth among 56 squads. Both teams must wait to see if they will receive a bid to the NCAA Championship meet next Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.

The men's team was paced by Brian Rich and Ascencion Aispuro, who both concluded their respective races in the top 18 among 384 competitors. Rich led the group in ninth (24:56.88), while Aispuro covered the 8K course with a time of 25:10.49, good for 18th place. Connor Evans led a trio of Panthers who ran as a tightly-packed bunch in 39th place (25:34.00), while Brendan Wood stopped the clock in 41st place (25:35.58) and Kevin Serrao was 46th in 25:41.74.

Abigail Nadler continued her impressive sophomore season, placing fifth overall among the 406 racers with a time of 21:26.55. Nadler also crossed the line in fifth a season ago at the regional meet. Finishing in 29th place was Sasha Whittle, who covered the 6K course in 22:08.31.
