Middlebury won its sixth-straight match as the Panthers (10-2, 5-2) picked up a 2-1 road win at Trinity (8-2-2, 5-2) on Saturday afternoon. Middlebury returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Wesleyan on Dragone Field at 1:30 p.m.

The Panthers took a 1-0 lead 15:23 into the match when a corner kick from Amy Martin was headed in by Alissa Huntington for her first of the season.

The first half ended relatively evenly played, with four shots on goal apiece.

Middlebury made it a 2-0 contest 4:27 into the second half with the team-leading seventh goal of the season from Adrianna Gildner. The shot came on after a restart when Gildner found the upper corner of the net from just outside the box. Her seven goals place her in a tie for fourth place among her NESCAC peers.

Trinity got on the board just a few minutes later after a wacky series of events. Taylor Kirchgessner fired a shot from distance that hit the top crossbar of the goal and rebounded to Nicole Stauffer. Stauffer sent a shot on goal that also hit the crossbar and bounced out. With Middlebury goalie Ursula Alwang on the ground after the diving save attempt, Stauffer controlled the rebound once again and finally scored after she kicked the ball over her left shoulder into the back of the net.

Stauffer had another great scoring chance near the 62nd minute mark when she headed a ball that appeared to be bound for the corner of the net, but a great diving save from Alwang preserved the Panther lead.

Trinity held a 16-10 shots advantage in the match, leading 5-1 in corner kicks. Alwang finished with a career-high eight saves, while Julia Pitino made three stops for the Bantams.
