The Middlebury women's soccer team recorded its third-straight shutout victory as the Panthers netted a 3-0 road win Saturday at NESCAC opponent Colby. Middlebury improved to 7-2 and 3-2 in the NESCAC, while the Mules fell to 3-5 and 0-5 in league action. Middlebury is home on Tuesday, facing St. Lawrence at 4:00 p.m. in a non-conference match-up.

The Panthers jumped out to the early lead after Katherine Hobbs opened the scoring 4:21 into match. Hobbs took a pass from Emma Shumway at the top of the Colby penalty area and directed a shot into the lower-left corner for her team-leading fifth of the season.

Middlebury doubled its lead in the 29th minute when Adrianna Gildner half-volleyed a cross from the right side by Amy Martin into the back of the net.

The match stayed a two-goal difference until late in the second half when the Panthers tacked on a third score. Amanda Dafonte tallied her first of the season, lifting a rebound over the Colby keeper in the 88th minute with the original shot coming off of the foot of Ellie Greenberg.

In goal for Middlebury, Kate Reinmuth recorded her second shutout of the season without facing a shot, while Samantha Rizzo had seven for the Mules. The Panthers boasted a 15-3 advantage in shots and took all three corner kicks.
