The 18th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team recorded three victories on the road last weekend during a trip to Maine. The Panthers opened action Friday with a hard-fought 5-4 victory over #17 Bates. Middlebury followed up Saturday with a 6-3 win against #20 Colby, concluding with a 9-0 triumph over #21 Bowdoin. The Panthers (6-1), winners of six-straight matches, return to the court on Tuesday when they play a home match against #22 Amherst at 5:00 p.m.

In the narrow win over Bates, the Panthers and Bobcats split the first six matches. Middlebury had victories from Henry Pearson at #6 in four games, William Kurth at #8 in four games and Harrison Croll in the fifth spot with a five-game triumph. With the match tied at 3-3, Bates grabbed its fourth point with a win in the top spot. Andrew Cadienhead knotted the match with a three-game sweep at #4, while Ben Krant lost the opening game at #7, but rallied to win the next three for the Panther victory.

Against Colby, Wyatt French gave the Panthers an early lead with his three-game win at #3. The Mules took the next two matches at #9 and #6, respectively, for a 2-1 advantage. Middlebury claimed the match with five-straight victories from David Cromwell at #2, Croll at #5 and Andrew Jung in the top spot of the ladder. Kurth at #8 and Cadienhead in the fourth slot each won in three games before the Mules grabbed their third point at #7 for the final 6-3 decision.

The Panthers completed the weekend with the 9-0 sweep of the Polar Bears. Croll picked up his third victory in as many matches, battling back from a 2-1 deficit to earn the five-game decision at #5. All other matches were secured by the Panthers in three games as Cadienhead at #4 and Kurth in the eighth spot also tallied a perfect 3-0 record for the weekend.
