The 16th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team posted a thrilling 7-2 road victory Saturday over #18 Williams (4-10) for the first-ever victory on the men's side over the Ephs. Saturday's match was the 12th meeting between the two programs. Middlebury (9-3) returns to the court on Friday when it takes on 14th-ranked Navy in a match to be contested at the Yale Round Robin.
In the win, the Panthers quickly grabbed the first five matches. Middlebury saw its first point come via a three-game victory by Robert Rohrbach at #9 (11-8, 11-5, 11-9), while Henry Pearson was the next to finish with a four-game triumph in the sixth spot (11-6, 11-9, 5-11, 11-6). Wyatt French at #3 (11-9, 11-9- 11-5) and William Kurth in the eighth slot (11-5, 11-6, 11-5) finished with three-game wins.
David Cromwell clinched the match with a three-game victory in the second spot in the ladder (11-6, 11-7, 11-5) before the Ephs tallied a point in the middle of the ladder at #5. The Panthers sixth and seventh points were recorded by Ben Krant at #7 and Andrew Cadienhead at #4. Both lost the first game to their respective opponents, but rebounded to claim the next three games for the win.
