The 15th-ranked Panther men's squash team split a pair of 5-4 decisions during the NESCAC Tournament Saturday. After receiving a bye through the first round, third-seeded Middlebury recorded a one-point win in the quarterfinals over #6 seed Wesleyan before falling to second-seeded and 13th-ranked Williams. The Panthers (12-6) return to play on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in the third-place match against #4 seed and 18th-ranked Bates.
In the narrow win over Wesleyan, Middlebury picked up straight-set victories from Wyatt French at #3, William Kurth at #5 and Robert Galluccio at #8. The Panthers other wins came from Cameron Dewey at #9 in four sets and Andrew Cadienhead in a marathon five-set match at #2.
Against Williams, French tallied his second win of the day in four sets in the third spot, while Galluccio also recorded his second victory of the day by a 3-1 score in the #9 match. Harrison Croll dropped the first set at #4, but won three-straight and earned a 3-1 win in the fourth slot, while Will Hanley battled back from a 2-1 deficit for a triumph at #7.
