The Middlebury men's squash team split a pair of matches to open the season in Massachusetts at the Williams Round Robin. The 17th-ranked Panthers faced two teams ranked in the top 20 on Saturday. Middlebury opened the season with an 8-1 setback to #12 Cornell by an 8-1 score, but rebounded later in the day for an 8-1 victory over 19th-ranked Western Ontario.
In the loss against Cornell, Middlebury's victory came from
Wyatt French at #3. After dropping the first game, he came back and won the next three for the win. In the #2 spot,
David Cromwell battled during a five-game loss at #2.
Against Western Ontario, French tallied his second win of the day in three games at the third spot, while
Andrew Jung picked up a win at the top of the ladder.
Harrison Croll was victorious in four games at #4, while
Andrew Cadienhead,
Henry Pearson,
William Kurth,
Ben Krant and
Sam Giddins all won in three games for the Panthers at spots five through nine.
