Box Score The Middlebury women's soccer team saw its seven-game unbeaten streak come to an end as the Panthers (5-4-5, 3-3-3) suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Bates (6-5-3, 3-3-3). Middlebury wraps up its regular season on Wednesday when it hosts #4 Williams at 3:00 p.m.
The Bobcats controlled the pace early, having shots hit the post in the 10th and 13th minutes, respectively. In the 32nd minute, Allison Hill delivered a perfect corner kick that Karen Lockhart headed off a Middlebury defender for her second goal of the season to put Bates up 1-0.
The Panthers made a push in the 42nd minute when Amanda Hotvedt beat keeper Sarah McCarthy, but her shot was cleared off the goal line by Hill.
In the second half, Middlebury managed seven shots but Bates' defense held in impressive fashion. Hill made another crucial defensive save in the 72nd minute to deny the Panthers yet another goal.
In the 83rd minute, Olivia Amdur found Leah Humes to put Bates up 2-0.
Bates has now allowed just one goal in its last three matches. Middlebury held a 14-9 shots advantage in the match with each team owning a pair of corner kicks. Kate Reinmuth finished with two saves in goal.
