Adrianna Gildner scored with 10:20 remaining to give Middlebury (3-2) a 1-0 win over Plattsburgh (4-2) in a non-league match-up Wednesday on Dragone Field. The Panthers return to action on Saturday when they host Bowdoin at 11:00 a.m., while the Cardinals host Skidmore on the same day.

The best chance to score in the first half came from Middlebury in the 44th minute. Gildner broke in alone as time was winding down, only to see her solid shot saved by Danielle Schmitt.

In the 52nd minute, Hannah Robinson broke loose with a hard shot to the right side that was denied by Schmitt. The Cardinals countered four minutes later when Hartmann's shot from 12 yards out sailed just over the crossbar.

Plattsburgh put on some pressure early in the second half, including a good look from Anissa Hartmann as her shot went wide right at the 56:02 mark.

Plattsburgh nearly got on the board in the 71st minute when a shot from Brooke Knight was denied by a diving save to her right by Panther keeper Kate Reinmuth.

The game's lone goal came at the 79:40 mark, the first of the year from Gildner. Molly Parizeau carried the ball past midfield on the right side before making a pass ahead. Gildner took in the pass and carried the ball 15 yards before ripping a shot to the top left corner of the net from the right side, 18 yards out.

The Panthers looked to add some insurance in the 86th minute, but Schmitt was able to get a hand on a shot from Amanda Hotvedt after a feed from Grace Woroch.

Middlebury finished with a 17-7 shots advantage in the game, as Reinmuth made three saves to earn her second shutout of the season. Schmitt finished with 11 stops in goal for the Cardinals.
