Middlebury's Adam Glaser scored the first three goals of his career to earn a hat-trick as the Panthers (3-1-1, 2-1-1) cruised to a 5-0 victory over Colby (2-4, 0-4) on Saturday afternoon. Middlebury earns the “Michael P. Russell Cup” with the victory, honoring the former Panther whose family also has ties to Colby. The five goals for the Panthers were the most against a NESCAC team since they netted five in a win over Trinity at the end of the '02 season. The win was the 500th in program history for the Panthers. Middlebury returns to action on Tuesday when they host Williams at 4:15 p.m.

Glaser struck first 11:41 into the game, receiving a through ball from Adam Batista and scoring with a shot to the left side of the goal from 18 yards out. Dan Skayne made it a 2-0 game with 1:22 left in the half, with a shot to the left side after a deflection off a Colby defender.

Glaser opened the second half with a pair of goals in 12 seconds to make it a 4-0 game. The first game when he converted a nice flick pass from Greg Conrad just inside the box. The rookie earned the hat-trick at 46:32 when he took a pass from Adam Batista and scored from the top of the box.

Jory Makin got into the scoring column for the first time as a Panther with 2:40 remaining, with an assist going to  Philip Skayne.

Middlebury finished with a 20-7 shots advantage, as Ethan Collins made four saves in goal to earn his third shutout of the season. Cody Funkhouser (1 save, 2 GA) and Peter Quayle (2 saves, 3 GA) split time for the Mules.
