Rookie Tom Bean scored his first career goal with less than 10 minutes remaining to lift Middlebury (2-1-1) to a 1-0 victory over Colby-Sawyer (4-3) on Wednesday afternoon. The Panthers held a 34-1 shots advantage in the game, but were only able to get a solo goal past Colby-Sawyer keeper Nick Austin (18 saves).

Middlebury had a great chance to score in the 27^th minute, but Noah Goss-Woliner hit the right post after a nice feed from Adam Glaser. Deklan Robinson nearly scored in the 39^th minute, but his volley went high after a lengthy throw-in from Tom Ogle.

The chances continued in the second half when Austin denied Sam Peisch in the middle with a quick turn and shoot attempt. Graham Knisley's shot from point-blank range in the 60^th minute went high after deflecting off a defender. Austin again kept the Panthers off the board in the 70^th minute, leaping to knock a shot over the crossbar off the foot of Harper Williams.

The game's lone goal came at the 81:19 mark on a set play after a restart. Robinson ripped a ball towards the goal from 35 yards out on the right wing, before Bean headed the ball into the top left corner of the net on the far post.

Along with their shots advantage, the Panthers led by a 16-0 margin in corner kicks. Ethan Collins was forced to make no saves to earn the win.
