Late Goal Gives Women's Soccer Road Win At Tufts

Box Score

Sophia Kliger scored the game-winner on a corner kick with just 1:35 as Middlebury (6-1-2, 4-1) picked up a 2-1 NESCAC road win at Tufts (4-4, 3-3). The Panthers are idle until next Saturday, when they host Trinity at 2:00 p.m.

Anya Kaufman put Tufts on the board 17:37 into the game when Carla Kruyff sent a pass Kaufman was able to tap right past Middlebury keeper, Elizabeth Foody for her third goal of the season.

Middlebury got on the board nine minutes into the second half with an unassisted goal from Hannah Robinson.  Robinson's shot hit the far right post before sneaking into the net to tie the game at one goal apiece.

The Jumbos had a chance to take the lead again when Jess Capone had a break away chance that got denied with a diving save by Foody.

With 1:35 left in the game Middlebury's corner kick produced the game winning goal. Jaime Soroka soared a kick right in front of the net, and despite the Jumbos best efforts to clear the ball, Kliger found the back of the net for her first career goal.

Foody finished the game with six saves, while her Jumbo counterpart Kristin Wright also had six saves.
