Women's Soccer Earns Scoreless Tie At Skidmore

Box Score

Middlebury earned a scoreless road tie on Wednesday night at 19th-ranked Skidmore (7-0-2). The Panthers, ranked 23rd nationally, move to 5-1-2 on the season and will return to action on Saturday at Tufts.

The teams traded scoring opportunities in the second half after a first half in which neither team could generate a clear offensive chance.

Skidmore nearly went ahead in the 62nd minute as Nicole Lorusso controlled a restart from Kelsey Russell and fired a strike from eight yards, forcing Middlebury goalkeeper Elizabeth Foody to make
a reaction save diving to her right.

Moria Sloan created the Panthers best chance in the 74th minute, cutting in from the left wing and picking out Scarlett Kirk, but Gab Lawrence was able to turn away Kirk's point-blank shot.

In overtime, both teams were only able to register one shot as the two defenses stood strong.

Middlebury outshot Skidmore 15-10 and owned a 4-1 advantage in corners. Lawrence made seven saves in goal for the Thoroughbreds in her sixth-straight shutout, while Foody stopped six shots.
