The Middlebury men's squash team earned two more wins, topping #20 Bowdoin at Dartmouth 5-4, before coming home to defeat #24 Drexel by the same score. The 13th-ranked Panthers improve to 5-1 overall and will be idle until January when they return to action at the Williams Round Robin.
Middlebury travelled to Dartmouth to take on #20 Bowdoin on Saturday, defeating the Polar Bears by a score of 5-4.
The Drexel match came down to #1 singles play, where senior Jay Dolan (Wareham, Mass.) took on Ibrahim Bakir from Drexel. Dolan took a lightning-fast first game 11-5, and followed up with an 11-8 win in the second game before Bakir found his range to even the match at 2-2. The score was tied 8-8 in the final game, before Dolan rattled off three straight points for an 11-5, 11-8, 8-11, 9-11, 11-8 victory.
The unsung hero of the day was Middlebury's sophomore Robert Galluccio (Greenwich, Conn.), who was down 2-1 at #5. He then trailed 8-2 in the fourth game, before battling back to take the game 11-9 and eventually win the match 11-5 in the fifth.
