Kirk Notches Hat-Trick To Lead Women's Soccer Past Colby

Box Score

Middlebury's Scarlett Kirk notched her second career hat-trick as the Panthers topped Colby 4-0 in the team's home-opener on Dragone Field. Middlebury will visit Amherst on Sunday, the team Kirk scored a hat-trick against one year ago.

Middlebury took a 1-0 lead at 10:26, with Julia Favorito settling a ball nicely in the midfield. She followed with a nice through pass to Kirk, who beat the Colby keeper one-on-one with a shot to the left side. Favorito notched a marker of her own at 24:27, after gathering a loose ball and tucking it into the right corner of the net.

Kirk notched her second goal 10:34 into the second half, taking a nice through ball from Rachel Madding before beating the keeper with a shot to the left side. The Mules threatened with a few corners kicks following the goal, but the Panther defense held tight to keep it a 3-0 game.

Kirk earned her hat-trick at the 87:08 mark, patiently sizing up a shot and blasting a left-footer into the net from 18 yards out.

Jocelyn Remmert finished the game with eight saves to earn her first career shutout, while Emily Brook made seven stops for Colby.
