Middlebury earned its first win in NESCAC play with a 2-0 victory over Connecticut College (5-3, 3-3) in a home contest on Sunday afternoon. The Panthers improve to 3-2-3 overall and 1-2-3 in league play, as they prepare to host Castleton State on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.

Middlebury had an opportunity 13 minutes into the game, but a free kick by Robbie Redmond ended up being sent towards the goal and cleared off the line by a Camel defender. Just over a minute later, Brett Brazier found Tyler Macnee, with his shot just missing wide. Martin Drolet and Macnee worked a give-and-go later, with Drolet's attempt going over the crossbar.

Middlebury finally broke through 51:20 into the second half when Otis Pitney scored his team-leading third of the season, finishing off a scramble in the goal crease.

Just under two minutes later, Pitney carried the ball down the left wing before making a hard crossing pass. Drolet was there to tap in the cross for his first of the season to give the Panthers a 2-0 advantage.

Middlebury kept up the pressure down the stretch, emerging with the 2-0 win. Tim Cahill was forced to make no saves to pick up his fourth shutout of the season. Casey Marini made a pair of stops for the Camels. The game was physical, with 38 fouls whistled between the teams.
