The Panther women's cross country team won its sixth NCAA Championship and the 31^st for Middlebury College since 1995. Middlebury head coach Terry Aldrich ends his 36-year career at the College in style, going out as a national champion. The Panther men were making their first-ever appearance at the championship event, placing 21st overall. Races were held at Wartburg College in Iowa. The Middlebury women previously won NCAA crowns in 2000, 2001, 2003, 2006 and 2008.

The women won the title with185 points, besting second place Washington (Mo.) by eight points. M.I.T. was third (214), followed by Wis.-Eau Claire (218) and Williams (230). First-year racer Colette Whitney (High Bridge, N.J.) led the women with a 24^th place finish overall, earning a time of 21:52. Next for the Panthers was sophomore Addie Tousley (Kensington, Md.) in 29^th place, followed closely by junior Margo Cramer (Seattle, Wash.) in 31^st (21:58). Senior Hannah Meier (Charlotte, Vt.) finished the race in 47^th place (22:12), with junior Claire McIlvennie (Ithaca, N.Y.) rounding out the scorers in 22:18, good for 54^th place. Also racing for the Panthers were first-year racers Maddie Hubbell (Des Moines, Iowa) and Katie Rominger (Brooklyn, N.Y.). Hubbell finished 66th (22:27), while Rominger came in 118^th (22:55).

Junior Michael Schmidt (Wilmette, Ill.) led the team's team with a 34^th place finish in 25:04. Sophomore Jack Davies (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) was next in 96^th (25:39), followed by senior Jack Terrett (Sherborn, Mass.) in 110^th place (25:46). Rookies Greg Krathwohl (Ipswich, Mass.) and Nate Sans (Princeton, Mass.) rounded out the Middlebury scorers, finishing in 114^th (25:48) and 166^th (26:15) respectively. Also competing for the Panthers were sophomore Taylor Sundali (Ketchum, Idaho), who placed 179^th (26:26) and junior Sam Miller (Needham, Mass.), who came in 216^th (27:30). Haverford won the men's race, followed by North Central and St. Lawrence.
