Women's Hockey Cruises Past Buffalo State

Middlebury scored four third period goals and outshot Buffalo State 48-8, on its way to a 6-0 blanking of the Bengals in Kenyon Arena. The third-ranked Panthers wrap up their semester with a perfect 5-0 mark and return to action when they host their own tournament on January 3rd and 4th.

Madison Styrbicki scored the first of her career 1:59 into the game for the Panthers, giving them a 1-0 lead. Maggie Melberg scored the only goal of the second period at 3:26, her third of the season. Nora Bergman started the third period outburst just 26 seconds in, with her third of the year. Styrbicki followed at 6:20 with her second of the game, before Lauren Greer scored the first of her career with an assist from Styrbicki at the 11:45 mark. Anna McNally wrapped up the scoring at 16:20 with her team-leading eighth of the year, also finishing the game with a pair of assists.

Becca Shaw earned her first career win in goal, making eight saves on the afternoon. Alyssa Koniar made 42 stops between the pipes for the Bengals.
