The Panther cross country teams both captured the State Championship meets hosted by Johnson State College. The women's team won the eight-team race, topping the University of Vermont, St. Michael's and Castleton. The men's squad captured their eight team race, ahead of UVM, Norwich and Lyndon.
First-year racer Jack Davies (Grosse Point, Mich.) won the men's race for the Panthers, finishing with a time of 27:41, 10 seconds ahead of junior Nat Nelson (Concord, N.H.). Placing third in the race was sophomore Sam Miller (Needham, Mass.) with a time of 28:01, followed by rookie Will Gibbons (Lexington, Mass.) in fifth (28:16) and senior Peter Hoffman (Rochester, Minn.) in sixth (28:26).
Sophomore Claire McIlvennie (Ithaca, N.Y.) captured the women's race, finishing with a time of 18:43.1, just ahead of rookie teammate Stephanie Moroney (Manchester, Mass.) (18:44.6). Senior Amanda Quinlan (Antrim, N.H.) ended the race in third place in 19:06, followed by first-year racer Addie Tousley (Kensington, Md.) in fourth (19:13) and junior Amanda Lee (Lincoln, Neb.) in fifth (19:25).
