Men's Soccer Settles For Tie With Wesleyan

Despite holding a 19-8 advantage in shots, Middlebury was unable to pick up the win as they settled for a 1-1 tie with Wesleyan in a NESCAC home game on campus. The Panthers will enjoy a week off before traveling to Colby next Saturday.

Middlebury had a great chance in the 8th minute, but Stephen Hart's chip shot sailed just over the bar from 15 feet away. Wesleyan broke through at 12:47 as Nick Whipple's free kick from 40 yards out was headed into the goal off the crossbar by Matt Nevin.

Middlebury answered at 28:30 as Tyler Macnee finished after a shot from Harrison Watkins was saved by Wesleyan's Nigel Stacey. Brian Bush kept it a 1-1 game for Middlebury in the 79th minute as he made a punch save as Max Sander was attempting a quick one-time shot. Stacey did the same for Wesleyan in overtime, denying Macnee on a rebound.

Bush ended the game with fives saves, while Stacey made seven for the Cardinals.
