Women's Soccer Falls At Williams In Regular Season Finale - Will Host Quarterfinal Sunday

The Middlebury women's soccer team ended its regular season with a 1-0 loss at Williams. The Panthers finish the season as the third seed and will host sixth-seeded Trinity in a NESCAC quarterfinal game on Sunday at 12:30.

Williams closes out the regular season unbeaten for the second consecutive year, holding the top spot in the latest national poll. The game's lone goal came at 5:13 as Jacqueline Russo fought for a long ball in front of the goal box, and aimed a header to teammate Sara Wild. The Eph sophomore flicked the ball to a charging Wild on her left, who ripped a shot into the back of the net.

The goal at the 5:13 mark would be the only offense of the contest. Although the Ephs rattled off 10 shots in the first half, a 15-4 shooting advantage did not translate to further goals.

Panther goalkeeper Lauryn Torch recorded eight saves in the game, while Eph keeper Lauren Sinnenberg was forced to make only one.
