Cross Country Teams In Action At Williams

The Middlebury College cross country teams were in action at the Williams Invitational over the weekend. The women placed third to Dartmouth and Williams, while the men placed fifth overall in the 10-team race.

In the women's race, senior Andrea Giddings (S. Portland, Maine) was the top Division III racer, finishing in second place with a time of 23:06. Finishing in fifth place was senior Erin Archard (Vienna, Maine) in 23:08, followed by sophomore Alexandra Krieg (Wellesley, Mass.) in seventh with a time of 23:11. Senior Devyn Young (Antrim, N.H.) finished the race in 13th place in 23:38, while senior Makely Lyon (Portland, Ore.) rounded out the top five in 17th place with a time of 23:48.

Junior Jimmy Butcher (Garden City, N.Y.) led the men's team with a sixth place finish with a time of 26:04. Senior Will McDonough (Lancaster, N.H.) was next for the Panthers with a 22nd place finish (27:12), followed by first-year racer Chris Free (Wallingford, Pa.) who came in 27th in 27:28. First-year racer Bruce Hallett (S. Londonderry, Vt.) was just behind Free in 28th (27:29), while sophomore Jack Wambach (Evanston, Ill.) was next in 29th (27:31).

The Panther cross country teams were in action at the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College on Saturday.
