Women's Soccer Holds Off Tufts

Middlebury took a 2-0 first half lead and made it hold up as they earned a 2-1 win over Tufts in the team's home-opener on Dragone Field.

Caitrin Abshere opened the scoring for Middlebury as she converted a lengthy shot from the outside after a nice centering pass from Ashley Pfaff. The Panthers took a 2-0 lead later in the half as Laura Kwoh scored on a header, after a previous shot was deflected away by a defender.

Tufts came out strong in the second half, holding a slim shots advantage. The Jumbos broke onto the scoreboard at 56:45 as Jessie Wagner's corner kick was headed in by Lauren Fedore to make it a 2-1 game with 33:15 remaining. The Middlebury defense held strong for the remainder of the half, preventing Tufts from scoring the equalizer as they came away with the win.

Adele Plunkett made 10 saves in goal to earn the win, while Annie Ross made six saves for Tufts.
