Middlebury rookie Ashley Pfaff scored four of the Panther's eight goals, as Middlebury defeated Castleton 8-2 on Dragone Field. Her four-goal effort ties Leah Cumsky-Whitlock, who tallied four back in '01.
After a scoreless 18:01, Pfaff put Middlebury on the board on a corner kick play. Ainsley Close took the corner kick, followed by a header from Kim Walker and a second header into the net by Pfaff. Caitlin Parker made it a 2-0 game at 25:03, before Pfaff struck again just 1:45 later. Erin Pittenger scored the next two for the Panthers, before Amy Yandow put Castleton on the board with 2:12 remaining in the first half.
Caity Abshere scored with a rocket from the outside, before Tracy Stala answered for the Spartans at 76:50. Pfaff scored the game's final two goals to make it an 8-2 contest.
Nancy Schneider made one save in goal for Middlebury, while Nakita Baldic made 15 stops for Castleton.
