The Mules took the lead 18:47 into the first half after a feed from Meredith Blascovich was headed in by Laura Williamson from five yards out. The Panthers were unable to get on the board until 77:57 of the second half when Kim Walker headed in a corner kick from Ainsley Close.
Both teams had some chances to score, with Middlebury holding a 16-13 shots advantage on the afternoon.
Adele Plunkett finished the day with five saves for Middlebury, while Liza Benson saved four in goal for Colby.
