9/18/04 - Middlebury shutout its third straight opponent as they moved to 3-0 overall with a 2-0 win over NESCAC foe Tufts.
John Rusten gave Middlebury a 1-0 lead 38:23 into the game as he converted a penalty kick after a foul in the penalty area. J.B. Gerber gave the Panthers some breathing room at 55:09 as he headed in a great feed from the outside by Nicholas Colacchio. Tufts had a few chances to get back in it late in the second half, but Craig Hirsh made some big saves for the Panthers to preserve the win.
Hirsh ended the game with five saves, while Matt Sullivan made 11 for Tufts.
