Brittany Cronin scored a pair of goals, while Middlebury sophomore Abby Kurtz-Phelan (Denver, CO/East) scored one goal and added an assist to lead the Panthers, ranked 11th in the country, past Plattsburgh State Tuesday night in Plattsburgh.

The Panthers (11-0-2) fell behind 1-0 when Plattsburgh senior Kaleen McCool (Plattsburgh, NY/Peru) opened the scoring with a drive from 18 yards out to the left of the Middlebury goal into the upper right corner of the goal. McCool was assisted by Elyse Lafountain (Moores Forks, NY/Champlain) as the Cardinals (13-4) took the early lead in the ninth minute.

Kurtz-Phelan evened the score at the 35:29 mark of the first half with an assist from Alexandra Citrin (Chevy Chase, MD/Sidwell Friends).

Middlebury took the lead with just 10 seconds left in the first half as Brittany Cronin (Aurora, CO/Grandview) picked up a loose ball off the foot of teammate Caity Abshere (Madison, WI/Madison) and beat Plattsburgh goalie Joia Aliperti (Commack, NY/Commack) into the right side of the goal.

Six minutes into the second half, Middlebury stretched the lead to 3-1 as a Kurtz-Phelan drive deflected hard off the crossbar and Mayo Fujii (Londonderry, NH/Deerfield Academy) headed home the rebound. Cronin added a late insurance goal for the Panthers in the 78th minute.

Aliperti finished with six saves while Els Van Woert (Shelburne, VT/Champlain Valley) stopped one shot for Middlebury as the Panthers outshot Plattsburgh 16-5.
