Men's Soccer Earns Tie At Williams

10/16/04 - The Panther men's soccer team earned big tie on the road as they battled to a 1-1 final with Williams. Middlebury outshot Williams 23-16 on the afternoon, but could not find the back of the net  in the second half.

Middlebury drew first blood when David LaRocca scored on a corner kick with an assist from Gabe Wood with 1:09 left in the first half. Eph goalkeeper Nick Armington made a nice save on the corner kick itself, but after the ball got kicked around some in front of the box LaRocca stood poised to knock home the first goal of the game

Patrick Huffer evened things up for Williams with his goal in the 63rd minute of play. Huffer hustled his way past two Panther defenders and slid the ball past the Middlebury keeper and into the bottom right hand corner of the goal.

That was the game's final goal as it remained in a 1-1 tie.

Scoring:
1. Middlebury (43:51) - LaRocca from Gabe Wood
2. Williams (62:50) - Huffer from Elwood
Shots: Williams - 16; Middlebury - 23

Saves: Williams - 5; Middlebury - 4
