10/14/04 - Middlebury improved to 40-2-4 all-time against <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Norwich as the Panthers beat the Cadets, 4-0. Middlebury is ranked fourth in the latest New England poll and will travel to #2 Williams this Saturday.
J.B. Gerber opened the scoring for Middlebury as he took a through pass from Kellan Florio before finishing with a shot to the right corner. The Panthers doubled the lead at 40:32 as David LaRocca carried the ball along the 18 before ripping a low hard shot into the right side of the net.
Just 55 seconds into the second half, Florio received a pass from John Sales before beating Adam Cardin with a shot from 15 feet away. Simon Perkins scored the game's final goal at 50:56 as he took a high cross from Florio before driving a shot past Cardin.
David Lindholm made three saves in goal for the shutout, including a stellar stop on Sani Siric at the 19-minute mark of the first half. Cardin made 16 saves on the afternoon.
