Jeff Thomsen, a member of the Class of 1983, holds Middlebury men’s lacrosse records for goals (181), assists (129), and points (310) despite playing in many less games than today’s players. He is sixth all-time in NCAA Division III men’s lacrosse history, with 5.96 points per game.
During his rookie season he finished second in Division III, with 54 goals and 35 assists, and he won an ECAC Championship. The following year, he earned second-team All-American honors after a 50-goal effort. Another ECAC title came during his junior season when he was again named a second-team All-American, while he repeated the honor in his final season.
His 89 points in 1980 are second on Middlebury’s single-season list, while his 38 assists during the 1983 season are tied for third. Thomsen still holds the school record, with 11 points in a game during a win over New Haven in 1983. Over his four-year career, his teams finished with an overall record of 38-14.
