  • Cross Country Teams Headed to NCAA Regional Championships

    The Middlebury College women’s and men’s cross country teams will both compete in the 2019 NCAA Regional Championship races hosted by Bowdoin. The competition will take place Pickard Field Cross Country Course. The men’s 8K race will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the women’s 6K event at 12:15 p.m.
  • Four Panthers Earn All-NESCAC Accolades

    Four members of the Middlebury College cross country teams earned All-NESCAC honors based on their performances Saturday at the 2019 NESCAC Championships hosted by Williams. Senior Theo Henderson (Cold Spring, N.Y.) was named to the All-NESCAC First Team, while classmate Henry Fleming picked up a second-team laurel. On the women’s side, seniors Meg Wilson (Concord, Mass.) and Talia Ruxin (Lexington, Mass.) raced to second-team accolades.
  • Panther Men Race to Third, Women Fourth at NESCAC Championships

    The Middlebury men’s cross country team finished third overall at the NESCAC Championships on Saturday, while the women were fourth in races hosted by Williams at Mount Greylock High School. The Panthers return to action on November 16 at the NCAA Regional Championships hosted by Bowdoin.
  • Cross Country Heads to Massachusetts for NESCAC Championships

    The Middlebury cross country teams start the postseason portion of their respective schedules when they compete in the 2019 NESCAC Championships on Saturday in Massachusetts. Williams will serve as the host for the first time since 2007. The 6K and 8K courses will wind through the grounds of Mount Greylock Regional High School. The men's race kicks off the championship at 12:00 p.m. and the women follow at 1:00 p.m. This year marks the 45th conference championship overall and the 37th at which team titles have been contested. The first seven championships were only individual meets.
  • Middlebury Runners Shine at Connecticut College Invitational

    The Middlebury cross country teams both turned in outstanding performances at the Connecticut College Invitational Saturday at Harkness Park. The 20th-ranked Panther men finished fifth in the 28-team field with 190 points, while the 18th-ranked women placed sixth among 29 squads with 216 points. Middlebury has next weekend off, before competing at the NESCAC Championships hosted by Williams at Mount Greylock High School on November 2.
  • Ellen, Willig Inducted Into Phi Beta Kappa

    Two Middlebury College senior student-athletes were elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest honor society for the liberal arts and sciences in the United States. Men's squash player Jacob Ellen (New York, N.Y.) and women's cross country/track and field runner Anna Willig (Phoenixville, Pa.) were honored for their hard work in the classroom.
  • Kearney Tabbed NESCAC Performer of the Week

    Middlebury College cross country runner Cassie Kearney (Rockland, Mass.) has been named the NESCAC Women’s Performer of the Week. Competing at Lehigh’s 46th annual Paul Short Invitational, the sophomore helped guide the 18th-ranked Panther women to a seventh-place finish in the Brown Race out of 44 schools with 274 points in a field comprised all three NCAA divisions. She posted a time of 21:30.8 in the 6K race, placing 14th in the field of 370 runners. The result is the second top-20 finish this fall for Kearney, as the 2018 All-American was 10th at the Bates Invitational on September 14.
  • Panthers Compete in Paul Short Run, Keene State Invitational

    The Middlebury cross country teams had a busy day Saturday, with one group running at the Paul Short Invitational in Pennsylvania, while a second contingent participated in the Keene State Invitational in New Hampshire. The Panther teams are idle until October 19 when they compete at the Connecticut College Invitational.
  • Panthers Compete at Purple Valley Classic

    The Middlebury cross country teams both turned in strong performances at the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams on Saturday at the Mount Greylock Regional High School course. The 21st-ranked men placed fourth in the 19-team field with 145 points, while the 19th-ranked Panther women were fifth out of 14 programs with 134 points. Middlebury returns to action next Saturday when it competes at both the Paul Short Invitational and the Keene State Invitational.
  • Middlebury Women Win Aldrich Invitational, Men Take Third

    The Middlebury cross country teams each ran on their home course, hosting the 2019 Aldrich Invitational Saturday with the women claiming the team title and the men placing third. The 17th-ranked Panther women had five runners in the top 10 and the 22nd-ranked men recorded three of the top-15 place winners. The women finished with 24 points followed by St. Lawrence with 36, while the men collected 77 points, trailing both St. Lawrence (28) and Vermont (41). Middlebury returns to action next Saturday at the Williams' Purple Valley Classic.
  • Women Finish Third, Men Fourth at Bates Invitational

    The Middlebury cross country teams continued their seasons Saturday at the Bates Invitational at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine. The women finished in third place out of four teams with 241 points as Tufts won the team title with 97 points, while the men scored 295 points for a fourth-place showing with the host Bobcats tallying 109 points to earn the crown.  The Panthers return to action next Saturday when they host the Aldrich Invitational. The men's race starts at 10:00 a.m., while the women's competition begins at 11:00 a.m.
  • Panther Cross Country Teams Win Vermont Tech Invitational

    The Middlebury cross country teams started their respective 2019 seasons Saturday by winning the Vermont Tech Invitational. The women, ranked 17th nationally, finished with 16 points to win the title over Norwich (53), while the 22nd-ranked men claimed the team title scoring 15 points ahead of the in-state Cadets (50). The Panthers return to action next Saturday when they travel to Maine for the Bates Invitational. The men's race starts at 11:00 a.m., while the women's competition begins at 12:00 p.m.
  • 2019 Women's Cross Country Season Preview

    The lineup may change on a yearly basis, but the history and the tradition remains the same for the Middlebury women’s cross country team heading into the fall of 2019. After capturing its 14th NESCAC Championship last season and losing five runners either to graduation or studying abroad this fall, the lineup will feature some new faces this season.
