    Katherine MacCary ’19, a senior on both the women’s cross country and track and field teams, found a love for running and competing at an early age. An art history major with minors in French and environmental studies from Los Angeles, California, MacCary talks about her love for competing and the internship she had last summer.
  • NESCAC Fall All-Sportsmanship Team Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its Fall All-Sportsmanship Team for each fall sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection. 
  • NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team Members Honored

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2018 Fall All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury's 84 representatives, the highest total in the conference.
  • Kelly, Kearney Earn USTFCCCA All-American Accolades

    Senior Rory Kelly (Winnetka, Ill.) and rookie Cassie Kearney (Rockland, Mass.) of the Middlebury College women's cross country team were honored when the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its list of All-American recipients following the NCAA Championship. The top-40 finishers in the 6K race garnered All-American status. Kelly and Kearney helped guide the Panther women to an eighth-place finish among 32 teams competing at the meet hosted by UW-Oshkosh at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wisconsin.
  • Panther Cross Country Teams Post Strong Finishes at NCAA Meet

    The fifth-ranked Middlebury women's cross country team finished eighth among 32 teams competing, while the 13th-ranked men were 15th at the NCAA Championships. Races were hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at the Lake Breeze Golf Club. Rory Kelly and Cassie Kearney both earned All-American honors with their respective finishes to lead the Panther women. 
  • Panther Cross Country Teams Headed to NCAA Championships

    The Middlebury College women's and men's cross country teams will both compete in the 2018 NCAA Championship races hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The women earned an automatic berth into the meet, while the men garnered an at-large spot. The races will take place on November 17 at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wisconsin. The women's race will begin at 12:15 p.m. eastern standard time, followed by the men's race at 1:15 p.m.
  • Panther Women Runner Up, Men Finish Third at NCAA Regionals

    The fifth-ranked Middlebury women’s cross country team finished as the runner-up among 57 teams competing, while the 13th-ranked men were third among 58 squads at the NCAA Regional Championships. Races were hosted by Bowdoin at the Pickard Cross Country Course. The women’s team receives an automatic bid into the NCAA Championship meet next Saturday in Winneconne, Wisconsin, while the men must wait to see if they garner an at-large bid.
  • Six Panthers Named All-NESCAC; Kearney Rookie of the Year; Wilkerson Coach of the Year

    Six members of the Middlebury College cross country teams have earned All-NESCAC honors based on their performances Saturday at the 2018 NESCAC Championships hosted by Tufts. Senior Rory Kelly (Winnetka, Ill.) and rookie Cassie Kearney (Rockland, Mass.) were named to the All-NESCAC First Team. Kearney was also tabbed the NESCAC Rookie of the Year, while head coach Nicole Wilkerson was selected as the Women’s Coach of the Year. Senior Claire Gomba (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and sophomore Tasha Greene (Wynnewood, Pa.) were second-team selections for the women.  On the men's side, junior Theo Henderson (Cold Spring, N.Y.) and senior Jonathan Perlman (Bala Cynwyd, Pa.) each picked up second-team accolades.
  • Women Win NESCAC Cross Country Title, Men Finish Third

    The Middlebury women’s cross country team won its 14th NESCAC Championship overall, while the men were third in races hosted by Tufts at Franklin Park. The Panthers returns to action on November 10 at the NCAA Regional Championships hosted by Bowdoin.
  • Cross Country Heads to Boston for NESCAC Championships

    The Middlebury cross country teams start the postseason portion of their respective schedules when they compete in the NESCAC Championships on Saturday in Massachusetts. Tufts will serve as the host of the 2018 edition at Franklin Park in Boston. The 36th running of the annual meet begins with the women's 6-kilometer race at 10:00 a.m., followed by the men's 8-kilometer race at 11:00 a.m.
  • Middlebury Runners Shine at Connecticut College Invitational
    October 13, 2018
    The Middlebury cross country teams both turned in outstanding performances at the Connecticut College Invitational Saturday at Harkness Park, as the women won the team title and the men finished third. The 16th-ranked Panther women topped the 25-team field with 67 points, while the 12th-ranked men placed third among 27 institutions with 96 points. Middlebury has next weekend off, before competing at the NESCAC Championships hosted by Tufts at Franklin Park in Massachusetts on October 27.
  • Panthers Compete in Paul Short Run, Sweeps Vermont State Titles

    The Middlebury cross country teams had a busy day Saturday, with one group running at the Paul Short Invitational in Pennsylvania, while a second contingent participated in the Vermont State Meet at Northern Vermont University-Lyndon. The Panther teams are idle until October 13 when they compete at the Connecticut College Invitational.
  • Panthers Compete at Purple Valley Classic

    The Middlebury cross country teams both turned in strong performances at the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams on Saturday afternoon at the Mount Greylock Regional High School course. The eighth-ranked men placed third in the 16-team field with 103 points, while the sixth-ranked Panther women were fourth out of 13 programs with 129 points.
  • Middlebury Sweeps 2018 Aldrich Invitational Titles

    The Middlebury cross country teams each ran their way to first-place finishes while hosting the 2018 Aldrich Invitational. The sixth-ranked women had six runners in the top 10 and the eighth-ranked men recorded four of the top five place winners on Saturday. The women finished with 18 points followed by Vermont with 49, while the men collected 17 points with Vermont a distant second with 57.The Panthers return to action next Saturday at the Williams' Purple Valley Classic.
  • Panther Cross Country Teams Win Vermont Tech Invitational

    The Middlebury cross country teams began their respective 2018 seasons by winning the Vermont Tech Invitational. The women, ranked sixth nationally, finished with 15 points to win the title over Molloy (50) and Vermont Tech (80), while the 11th-ranked men claimed the team title scoring 15 points ahead of Molloy (50), Paul Smith’s (95) and Vermont Tech (106). The Panthers return to action next Saturday when they host the Aldrich Invitational. The men's race starts at 1:00 p.m., while the women's competition begins at 2:00 p.m.
  • 2018 Women's Cross Country Season Preview

    The lineup may change on a yearly basis, but the overall goal remains the same for the Middlebury women’s cross country team heading into the fall of 2018. Winners of six NCAA titles since 2000 and an 11th-place finish a season ago, the team has its sights set on hoisting another trophy come the middle of November in Wisconsin.
