The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the NESCAC Championship races Saturday hosted by Bates at Pineland Farms. The eighth-ranked Panther women scored 77 points in the 11-team race only trailing fourth-ranked Williams (62), while the 17th-ranked men turned in a runner-up effort with 66 points behind sixth-ranked Amherst's 35. Middlebury returns to action on November 11 at the NCAA Regional Championships hosted by Southern Maine.
Katherine MacCary led the Panther women to the finish line, placing seventh overall with a time of 22:22.5. Abigail Nadler was next for Middlebury in ninth place during the 6K race, breaking the tape with a time of 22:25.7. Rory Kelly followed in 15th place (22:51.2), while Read Allen placed 18th overall with a time of 23:02.1. Rounding out the team's five scorers was Katherine Glew, who came in 28th (23:23.6).
Nicky Roberts of Amherst claimed top individuals honors with a time of 21:19.9
On the men's side, the Panthers were paced by Harrison Knowlton, who placed seventh in the 8K event with a time of 25:34.3. Right behind Knowlton was Ascencion Aispuro in eighth place (25:37.3), while Matt D'Aquila finished 12th with a time of 25:42.5. Theo Henderson placed 17th overall at the race in 25:52.4, while Connor Evans completed the Panther scorers with a 22nd-place effort of 25:58.6.
Amherst's Mohamed Hussein earned his conference individual crown with a winning time of 25:07.3.
