  • Panther Cross Country Teams Honored for Classroom Work

    The Middlebury cross country teams were honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their work in the classroom. The Panther men compiled a 3.71 team grade point average, good for the fourth-best mark in Division III, while the women finished with a 3.69 GPA to tie for 20th.
  • Nadler Earns USTFCCCA All-American Accolade

    Junior Abigail Nadler (Chicago, Ill.) of the Middlebury College women’s cross country team was honored when the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its list of All-American recipients following the NCAA Championship. The top-40 finishers in the 6K race garnered All-American status. Nadler helped guide the Panther women to an 11th-place among 32 teams competing at the meet hosted by Principia College at Principia North Farm Course in Elsah, Illinois.
  • NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team Members Honored

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2017 Fall All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.40. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution. The following are Middlebury's 104 representatives, the highest among the 11 conference institutions.
  • NESCAC Fall All-Sportsmanship Team Announced

    The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced its Fall All-Sportsmanship Team for each fall sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship. The student-athlete selected must be in good academic standing and a member of the team at the conclusion of the season in order to be eligible for selection. 
  • Nadler, Aispuro Pace Cross Country Teams at NCAA Meet

    The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the NCAA Championship meets hosted by Principia College at a cold and rainy Principia North Farm Course in Elsah, Illinois. The Panther women finished 11th among 32 teams with 400 points, while the men's squad was 15th in a 32-team race with 416 points. Abigail Nadler earned All-American honors for the third-straight year with her seventh-place finish, while Ascencion Aispuro nabbed All-American accolades for the men. The Johns Hopkins women (96 points) and the North Central (Ill.) men (57 points) each took home team national crowns.
  • Panther Cross Country Teams Headed to NCAA Championships

    The Middlebury College men’s and women’s cross country teams have been selected to take part in the 2017 NCAA Championship races hosted by Principia College. The events will take place on November 18 at the Principia College North Farm Cross Country Course in Elsah, Illinois. The men’s race will begin at 12:00 p.m. followed by the women’s race at 1:15 p.m.
  • Panther Men Finish Third, Women Fourth at NCAA Regionals

    The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the NCAA Regional races hosted by Southern Maine at the Gorham Country Club. The 15th-ranked men finished third among 55 teams competing with 124 points, while the eighth-ranked women were fourth among 56 squads with 113. Both teams must wait to see if they will receive a bid to the NCAA Championship meet next Saturday in Elsah, Illinois at the Principia North Farm Course.
  • Five Panthers Earned All-NESCAC Honors

    Five members of the Middlebury College cross country teams have earned All-NESCAC honors based on their performances Saturday at the 2017 NESCAC Championships hosted by Bates. Junior Katherine MacCary (Los Angeles, Calif.) was named to the All-NESCAC first team, while classmate Abigail Nadler (Chicago, Ill.) was a second-team selection for the women. On the men’s side, junior Harrison Knowlton (Turner, Maine) was a first-team recipient, while senior Ascencion Aispuro (Maywood, Calif.) picked up second-team accolades. First-year runner Matt D’Aquila (Wynnewood, Pa.) was lauded as the league’s male Rookie of the Year.
  • Cross Country Teams Both Second at NESCAC Championships

    The Middlebury cross country teams took part in the NESCAC Championship races Saturday hosted by Bates at Pineland Farms. The eighth-ranked Panther women scored 77 points in the 11-team race only trailing fourth-ranked Williams (62), while the 17th-ranked men turned in a runner-up effort with 66 points behind sixth-ranked Amherst's 35. Middlebury returns to action on November 11 at the NCAA Regional Championships hosted by Southern Maine.
  • Cross Country Heads to Maine for NESCAC Championships

    The Middlebury cross country teams start the postseason portion of their respective schedules when they compete in the NESCAC Championships on Saturday in Maine. Bates will host the 2017 edition at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine. The 35th running of the annual meet begins with the men's 8-kilometer race at 12:00 p.m., followed by the women's 6-kilometer race at 1:00 p.m.
  • Middlebury Runners Shine at Connecticut College Invitational
    October 14, 2017
    The Middlebury men’s and women’s cross country teams both turned in outstanding performances at the Connecticut College Invitational Saturday, as the women claimed the team title and the men finished second. The ninth-ranked Panther women topped the 21-team field with 36 points, while the 18th-ranked men placed second among 20 institutions with 77 points. Middlebury has next weekend off, before competing at the NESCAC Championships hosted by Bates on October 28. 
  • Panthers Sweep Titles at Vermont State Meet

    The Middlebury men’s and women’s cross country teams won the team titles during the Vermont State Meet on their home course Saturday. The 17th-ranked men topped the field of eight schools with 20 points, while the 11th-ranked women took top honors with 21. The Panthers have a week off before returning to action October 14 at the Connecticut College Invitational.
  • Panthers Post Strong Performances at Lehigh’s Paul Short Run

    Select members of the Middlebury men's and women's cross country teams participated in the College Gold races as part of the 44th annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh (Pa.). The Paul Short Run, one of the largest meets in the nation with more than 6,000 athletes from nearly 450 competing teams, was contested Friday on the Goodman Cross Country Course. Taking part in a race filled with teams primarily from Division I as well some Division II and III representatives, the 11th-ranked Panther women finished 35th of 42 teams competing with 877 points, while the 17th-ranked men were 36th of 40 with 915.

  • Panthers Compete at Purple Valley Classic

    The Middlebury cross country teams both turned in strong performances at the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams on Saturday afternoon at the Mount Greylock Regional High School course. The 19th-ranked men placed fourth in the 26-team field with 117 points, while the eighth-ranked Panther women were sixth out of 26 programs with 164 points.
  • Cross Country Teams Sweep Aldrich Invitational

    The Middlebury cross country teams swept the respective Aldrich Invitationals on Saturday, as both teams cruised to victories in their first home event of the season. The 21st-ranked men grabbed the top-six spots and seven runners in the top eight, while the eighth-ranked women owned places one through eight and 11 of the top 13 finishers. The Panthers return to action next Saturday at Williams' Purple Valley Classic.
  • Panther Cross Country Teams Win Vermont Tech Invitational

    The Middlebury cross country teams began their respective 2017 seasons by winning the Vermont Tech Invitational. The women, ranked ninth nationally, finished with 25 points to win the title over Southern New Hampshire (42) and Vermont Tech (74), while the 19th-ranked men claimed the team title scoring 20 points ahead of SNHU (41), Vermont Tech (92) and Amaugusta (104). The Panthers return to action next Saturday when they host the Aldrich Invitational. The men’s race starts at 1:00 p.m., while the women’s competition begins at 2:00 p.m.
  • 2017 Women's Cross Country Season Preview

    The lineup may be fluid and evolving on a year-to-year basis, but the overall goal remains the same for the Middlebury women’s cross country team heading into this fall. Winners of six NCAA titles since 2000 and a 14th-place finish a season ago, the team has its sights set on hoisting another trophy come mid-November in Illinois.
