  • More Academic Honors For Cross Country - Women Named Scholar Team Of The Year

    The Middlebury College Panthers are the 2008 NCAA Division III USTFCCCA Women's Cross Country Scholar Team of the Year, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced on Monday. Middlebury finished 15th at the 2007 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships before winning the 2008 NCAA Division III Cross Country title.

    For the sixth consecutive year, the Middlebury College men's and women's cross country teams have both been named USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association) All-Academic teams. The women's team boasted a 3.48 GPA, while the men's team earned a 3.44 GPA.

    Middlebury College cross country coach Terry Aldrich has been named the USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) National Coach of the Year for the fifth time. Aldrich recently led the women's team at Middlebury to its fifth NCAA Championship.

    The Middlebury College women's cross country team won its fifth NCAA Championship with a convincing victory at the race held in Hanover, Indiana. The Panthers previously won titles in '00, '01, '03 and '06, earning the 29th national title for Middlebury College since '95. Along with the eight NCAA men's hockey titles, women's cross country, women's lacrosse and women's hockey have each won five national crowns at Middlebury.

    The Middlebury College women's cross country will take part in the NCAA Championship hosted by Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana on Saturday, November 22nd at noon. The Panthers won NCAA titles in '00, '01, '03 (in Hanover) and '06. The Panthers turned in impressive second place finishes in '99, '02 and '04.
  • Women's Cross Country Wins NCAA Regional - Men Place Sixth

    The Panther cross country team were impressive at the NCAA New England Regional hosted by Williams on Saturday. The women captured the 49-team event to win the NCAA Regional and an automatic qualification to the NCAA's. The men's squad turned in one of their best performances in school history, finishing in sixth place in the 49-team race.

    The Middlebury College cross country teams both raced at the ECAC Championship races last weekend. Despite resting some of their top runners, the Middlebury men and women both placed third overall in races that featured over 40 schools.
  • All-NESCAC Cross Country Teams Announced

    The NESCAC has released its 2008 All-Conference cross country selections, based on individual's finishes at the recent NESCAC Championship races. Head Coach Terry Aldrich was chosen as the Women's Coach of the Year. Aldrich helped his squad earn a share of the 2008 NESCAC Women's Cross Country title, the first conference championship for the Panthers since 2004. Aldrich previously received Women's Coach of the Year in 2000 and again in 2001.

    The Middlebury women earned a share of the NESCAC women's cross country championship, as the Panthers and Ephs of Williams will split the '08 crown. The title is the ninth for Middlebury, who also shared the title with Williams in '04. The races were held at Pineland Farms and hosted by Bates College as the Middlebury men finished the 11-team race in sixth place.

    The 2008 NESCAC Cross Country Championships will take place this Saturday, hosted by Bates College at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine. The 26th annual conference meet gets underway at 12:00 p.m. with the men's 8-kilometer championship race and will be followed at 1:00 p.m. by the women's 6-kilometer championship race.

    The Middlebury College cross country teams were in action at the University of Albany Invitational meet on Saturday. The meet featured teams from all around the region, in Divisions I, II and III. The men were impressive with a sixth place finish among 22 teams, while the women placed second overall in the 24-team events.

    The Panther cross country teams raced at the Open New England Championships over the weekend at Franklin Park in Boston. The race featured Division I, II and III schools from throughout New England. The Middlebury women placed sixth overall and second among D3 schools in the 45-team race, while the men were 21st and seventh among D3 schools in their 45-team competition.

    The Middlebury College cross country teams competed at the State Meet hosted by Castleton on Saturday. Both the Middlebury women's and men's teams placed second to the University of Vermont in the races. The Catamounts, who don't normally attend the meet, brought their top runners to the race for the first time since '86. The Panthers were resting several of their top runners on both the men's and women's sides.

    The Panther cross country teams took part in the Purple Valley Classic races hosted by Williams over the weekend. The women placed second to the host school in the 18-team race, while the men placed fifth as the Ephs captured the win.

    The Middlebury cross country teams hosted the Panther Invitational races on campus Saturday afternoon. The women won their race with 19 points, followed by St. Michael's (49) and Norwich (74). The men were victorious with 15 points, followed by St. Michael's (73), Norwich (78), Paul Smith's (89) and Morrisville State (149).

    The Middlebury cross country teams opened up their season with a meet at Plattsburgh on Saturday. The men placed second among five teams, while the women tied for first with Plattsburgh in the four-team race.
