English Selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Middlebury College volleyball player Melanie English (Montgomery Village, Md.) has been named a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District I First-Team Academic All-District selection by the organization. The junior boasts a 3.92 grade point average as a history major.

An All-NESCAC Academic selection as a sophomore, English paces the conference with 1.08 blocks per set and 93 total blocks (24 block solos, 69 block assists). On September 15 in a match at Union, English tallied a career-high 10 total blocks (1 BS, 9 BA), as her nine block assists tied a school record set by Whitney Bean in 2008. English also ranks fourth on the Panthers with 134 kills in 86 sets played.

During her career, the Panther middle hitter has seen playing time in 70 matches and 249 sets. English has accumulated 222 total blocks (64 BS, 158 BA), while her 0.89 blocks per set is fourth in the Middlebury career ranks.

English and the rest of the fourth-seeded Panthers will take on fifth-seeded Tufts on Friday evening in the NESCAC Tournament quarterfinals at 8:00 p.m. hosted by Bowdoin.
