The Middlebury volleyball team (1-3) concluded its opening weekend of play with two more matches at the UMass.-Boston Tournament. After going 1-1 on Friday night, the Panthers opened Saturday's play with a 3-0 loss to the host school. In its final match of the weekend against Salisbury, Middlebury fell by a score of 3-0.
Middlebury hung tough with the Beacons for a pair of sets, falling 25-22 and 25-18, before bowing out 25-14 in the third set.
Emily Kolodka paced the offensive attack with five kills, while Olivia Kolodka and Alice Roberts added seven apiece. Hannah Blackburn dished out 27 assists in the match, while Lizzy Reed (15 digs) and E. Kolodka (8 digs) paced the defense.
Against Salisbury, Middlebury played the Gulls tight, but came up on the short end of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-19 sets.
O. Kolodka earned six kills in the match, while three others picked up four. Reed led the defense with 14 digs, Blackburn added 11 with seven kils and four service aces, while E. Kolodka had 10 digs.
