The Middlebury women’s volleyball team improved to 15-5 on the season with a 3-1 (26-28, 25-12, 25-21, 26-24) win over MIT (18-9) at the Hall of Fame Tournament hosted by Mt. Holyoke. The Panthers are back in action on Saturday with matches against Amherst and Springfield.
MIT needed three extra points to edge the Panthers in the first set, 28-26. The Panthers cruised in the second set before coming away with a 25-21 victory in the third. The match nearly went to a fifth and deciding set, but Middlebury emerged with a 26-24 win in the fourth set to secure the match.
Megan Jarchow led the team with 14 kills on the night, followed by 13 from Amy Hart. Hannah Blackburn earned 39 assists, while Melanie English earned 3.5 blocks with five block assists from Gabi Rosenfeld. Hart (16), Olivia Kolodka (13), Blackburn (12) and Lizzy Reed (12) were the digs leaders.
