The Middlebury women's volleyball team played three NESCAC matches at Colby over the weekend. The Panthers opened on Friday night with a tight 3-2 (24-26, 25-5, 25-23, 19-25, 17-15) loss to Bowdoin. Middlebury bounced back on Saturday, earning a 3-1 win over Bates and a 3-0 victory over Colby.
Sophomore Megan Jarchow (Cos Cob, Conn.) led the team with 11 kills agasinst Bowdoin, while junior Madeline Firestone (Solvang, Calif.) added 10 and sophomore Amy Hart (Kenilworth, Ill.) chipped in with eight. Junior Caitlin Barrett (Medfield, Mass.) earned 28 digs in the contest, junior Julia Gibbs (Houston, Texas) had 43 assists, while Firestone added five blocks.
Middlebury bounced back on Saturday, earning a 3-1 win over Bates and a 3-0 victory over Colby. Against Bates, Hart earned 13 kills, while Jarchow had a dozen to lead the Panthers to the win. Five players were in double digits in the digs column, led by senior Jane Handel (Evanston, Ill.) with 16 and Barrett with 15. Hart had five blocks, Gibbs added four with 35 assists.
Jarchow had a big match against Colby, earning 17 kills while hitting at .531 for the contest. Barrett paced the team with 21 digs, Gibbs added 27 assists, while Jarchow picked up five blocks.
