Volleyball Ends NESCAC Play With 8-2 Mark

The Middlebury volleyball team wrapped-up its regular season by taking a pair of NESCAC matches at Hamilton. The Panthers defeated the host school 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-14) on Friday night, before earning a 3-1 (25-15, 18-25, 25-17, 25-22) win over Williams on Saturday. Middlebury moves to 21-5 overall, finishing second in the NESCAC with an 8-2 record.  The Panthers will take on seventh-seeded Trinity next Friday night at Amherst in a NESCAC Quarterfinal match-up.

On Friday night, junior Jane Handel (Evanston, Ill.) and sophomore Julia Gibbs (Houston, Texas) led the team with 11 kills apiece, while first-year player Megan Jarchow (Cos Cob, Conn.) added 10. Sophomore Caitlin Barrett (Medfield, Mass.) picked up 19 digs in the win, while senior Lauren Barrett (Medfield, Mass.) earned 39 assists.

Middlebury used a balanced attack in their win over Williams on Sunday. Jarchow (13), Handel (12) and Jarchow (12) led the team in kills, while Handel had 24 digs. C. Barrett picked up 14 digs, Jarchow had 12, while L. Barrett earned 43 assists.
